"The Sundering" is now the official podcast for MLP'012

Thaaaat's right folks. MLP has an official podcast "sponsor" for this year. I use the term "sponsor" loosely as they aren't really "sponsoring" in the traditional sense. The Sundering is working with us this year to help promote our event and really take it to the next level. I've been on the show before and I tell you it is one of, if not the best, gaming podcasts on the internet today. They have a lot of fun and have some great insights to the latest games. I will be on their show this Sunday so if you want some inside scoops to what is going on, let me know. I'd love to have questions to answer on their show so if you have anything you want to ask about MassiveLAN, this year's event, or general gaming hit me up: aj@massivelan.com or tweet @MassiveLAN and I'll see if I can sneak them in

MLP is now part of Lanfest

As you probably know, ML has been having annual events for the past 8 years. What you might not know is that ML is always looking for ways to improve and expand. This year we've been in contact with Lafest (sponsored by Intel). After some late night meetings and getting to know one-another, we've been added as a chapter of Lanfest. This is by no means something trivial, this is a big step for us and gaming in Western NY.

What does this mean for MassiveLAN?

	It means...

 Better Prizes

 Better Support

 Better Experience

Since we are now a Lanfest event, our sponsorship is 100% covered. We no longer have to scrape the bottom of the Public Relations barrel and get 2nd-gen hardware and lame periphs. No sir. We also don't have to devote hours and hours of time getting these prizes, and can focus mainly on the gaming portions of our event.

So what's changing? 100% of our entry fee now goes to charity. We're working on deciding what cause we will be benefiting, but that information is coming. It also means some changes to our registration system. All registration will be done on Lanfest's site. If you already paid for this year, don't worry you will be taken care of. You will also be able to purchase tickets for other people, and reserve a seat.

Our event is still our games, our rules, and our experience. Lanfest is just helping us take it to the next level. Take some time to visit them here. We will have registration back online in a few days.

2012 finally underway

Well we got off to a slow start this year that's for sure. One issue we had with getting things together was the folks at the fairgrounds told us last year that we would probably be moving buildings. I'm not sure if you know, but last year was a mess as far as getting to and from where we were. With the new casino there it makes it difficult to get to our little neck of the woods.

Anyways, this year we have a new space. We took some photos and will be getting a gallery up for them soon. Personally I'm super excited about this new space and we are already working on some creative ways to use it. This new space definitely has a lot more character to it. Rather than being a solid concrete floor with some walls it actually has some rooms and furnishings that make it more aesthetically pleasing. I'd have to say my two favorite things are the carpet and the lower ceilings. They're not super low, but defintely will cut down on any echo/empty space sound that we've been having. People should be able to have a conversation without bothering someone else.

We plan on having a dedicated sleeping area this year, something we haven't had in some time. And it's dark and quiet, real quiet. Spooky quiet.

We plan on getting back to the fairgrounds to take some measurements and figure out our layout. This year I've been toying with the idea of "registering seats" so that way you and your friends can save specific seats so we know where to put you. If you actually read this blog and think this is a good idea let me know in the forums. Our forums are all new this year too so you will need to re-register.

We have some big annoucements in the works for this year, more on that later. Thanks for reading and we hope to see you there.
